3D Scan The World Workshop | Expanding Creativity from 2D to 3D
For designers, learning a new tool doesn't mean starting over - it means expanding creative possibilities and transforming ideas into more impactful visual experiences. That was the key message of 3D Scan The World, a workshop organized by Lumina Academy for Graphic Design students from BTEC FPT and Melbourne Polytechnic FPT.

Through expert presentations and hands-on demonstrations, participants gained a deeper understanding of how 3D technologies are reshaping today's creative industries while discovering new opportunities for career growth.

EXPLORING THE GROWING ROLE OF 3D

Throughout the workshop, students explored how 3D technologies are applied across a wide range of industries, including Game Development, Animation, VFX, Advertising, Product Design, and Digital Media.
Industry professionals shared practical insights into why 3D skills are becoming increasingly valuable in today's creative production pipeline.
EXPERIENCING THE PROFESSIONAL 3D WORKFLOW
One of the workshop's highlights was the opportunity to experience how a 2D concept evolves into a fully realized 3D asset.

Participants were introduced to professional 3D software and production workflows, gaining a clearer understanding of how creative ideas are developed from concept to final production within a studio environment.

This hands-on experience helped bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry practices.
PREPARING FOR FUTURE CREATIVE CAREERS
In addition to technical knowledge, the workshop provided valuable career guidance for aspiring designers.

Speakers discussed current recruitment trends, industry expectations, and the essential skills companies seek when hiring young creative professionals. Students also learned about learning pathways and scholarship opportunities available at Lumina Academy.

Perhaps the most important takeaway was the realization that a strong 2D design foundation is not replaced by 3D - it becomes a significant advantage when transitioning into three-dimensional production.
CONTINUING THE CREATIVE JOURNEY
The workshop concluded with inspiring discussions, meaningful networking, and fresh perspectives on the future of creative careers.

Lumina Academy sincerely thanks Wacom Store, the faculty of BTEC FPT, and all students from BTEC FPT and Melbourne Polytechnic FPT for making the event engaging and memorable.
We hope this experience inspires more young designers to continue exploring new technologies and confidently expand their creative boundaries in the world of 3D.
