[LUMINA x NUAE] “Game Industry Unlocked” Workshop – Real Industry Mindsets for Entering Modern Game Development

21/03/2026

The “Game Industry Unlocked” workshop, organized by Lumina Academy in collaboration with the Faculty of Applied Arts at National University of Art Education, recently brought together a large number of students interested in creative careers and the rapidly growing game industry.

More than just an introduction to game development, the workshop provided students with a broader understanding of the creative industry and the career opportunities emerging both in Vietnam and globally. Starting from familiar questions such as “What can I do after studying graphic design, fashion, or digital art?”, the discussion gradually expanded into a deeper exploration of the game industry as one of the fastest-growing creative sectors in need of talented artists.

Throughout the workshop, speakers guided participants through the current landscape of the global game industry, highlighting major market changes and the increasing opportunities shifting toward Vietnam. These insights helped students understand that gaming is no longer viewed simply as entertainment, but as a large-scale creative industry with strong demand for skilled professionals.

One of the most impactful topics discussed was the difference between creating visually appealing school assignments and producing real products within a professional studio environment. Speakers emphasized that artistic ability is important, but succeeding in the game industry also requires an understanding of production workflows, collaboration within pipelines, and practical problem-solving skills.

The workshop also delivered several valuable insights specifically for art students. Participants learned that being good at drawing or software alone is not enough without the right professional mindset. A portfolio is not only meant to showcase artwork, but also to demonstrate creative thinking, working ability, and growth potential. In today’s game industry, mindset and adaptability are often what determine long-term success.

The Q&A session became one of the most engaging parts of the event, with students actively asking questions about career orientation, portfolio development, and pathways into the game industry. Through honest and practical answers from the speakers, participants gained a clearer understanding of what it truly takes to pursue a career in the creative field.

Lumina Academy believes that the most valuable outcome of the workshop was not simply the information shared, but the shift in perspective it inspired among young creatives. Sometimes, the right career path is much broader than what we initially imagine.

Lumina Academy would like to sincerely thank Nguyễn Phúc Thành, Trần Văn Tuân, the lecturers from National University of Art Education, and all participating students for contributing to such a meaningful and inspiring professional event.
